LIP SERVICE
Communication and controversy gave inspiration to these elegant yet inciting slippers.

The red lip, an iconic symbol of femininity, has had a tumultuous history.  In Ancient Egypt, red lips were an indication of aristocracy.  While in Greece, it was a mark of a prostitute.  In 1200 AD, in present day Italy, the shade of red on the lips was a sign of social status.  In England, during the 1700s and 1800s, red lips meant that you were a witch.  Over in France, on the other hand, they were encouraged for upper-class women.

In dreams, lips symbolize intimate communication, often between lovers and friends.  Everyone knows: The shape of a woman’s lips can tell much more than words.

Fashion is intimate communication.  An artistic expression of the self to the world.

Discovering Serena’s inspirations is always thought provoking...
