Our tenth anniversary issue of Sanayi313 PAPER honors the unseen labor and imagination behind everything we create.
A decade ago, Sanayi313 was born from a vision to transform one corner of an industrial zone; where the sounds of tools and machinery still fill the air, into a hub of creativity. What began as a bold experiment in interiors, design, art and storytelling has since evolved into a living collective shaped by the people, ideas and experiences that have passed through its doors. This issue is a tribute to those 10 years, a celebration of craft, collaboration and the unseen labor that transforms something into something beautiful.
At its heart is performance artist Nezaket Ekici, a protégé of the legendary Marina Abramović who went on to become a pioneer of modern and postmodern performance art. Known for her thought-provoking works that blend humor and seriousness, Ekici bridges her Turkish heritage with the German culture in which she was raised. Each of her performances is conceptually rich and philosophically oriented, often regarded as a total work of art.
Ekici graces our cover in a still shot from the piece Emotion in Motion, during which she kisses objects to honor the unseen labor that went into making them. This act beautifully mirrors Sanayi313’s philosophy, paying tribute to the dedication, effort and stories behind everything that we create.
